of many children to his parents John & Ruth Roake, John is a baker. Older
siblings are Herbert, William, Thomas, Henry, Edward, Ruth plus Alfred is
slightly younger.

Arthur Roake (R.N.R., L.F.B.) was awarded the D.S.M. for his gallantry on 25th April, 1915, when, being one of a small party which had been landed to reconnoitre, he carried a wounded officer under heavy fire back to the boats, and the next day acted as a guide to a second party.
