KEMMEL, 20th July, 1916. For conspicuous gallantry. When his battery was heavily bombarded and a direct hit ignited an ammunition store, he at once went in and got the Fire under at great personal risk before anyone else arrived on the scene. Some of the ammunition exploded, and the position was being shelled while he was working.
