MAINGOT, Capt. Patrick Sherlock ... ... ... 9/East Surrey

S.E. of CAMBRAI, 9th October, 1918. For conspicuous good leadership and gallantry when in command of a company. Again, on i6th October, during the attack on HAUSSY, he manoeuvred his men splendidly, and took his objective in spite of heavy opposition, with very few casualties. When the enemy counter-attacked and practically surrounded him he extricated his men in a most masterly manner. He showed marked courage throughout.
