N. of BAPAUME-CAMBRAI ROAD, 22nd March, 1918. For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty in leading his platoon through a heavy barrage to reinforce a corps line. On the succeeding days, and until he was wounded, he was a model of coolness and courage to his men, and his cheerfulness throughout the operations was of invaluable assistance to all ranks with him.
