BAILEY, Temp. 2nd Lt. Alan John, 6th Bn., Bedf. R., attd. ist Bn., Herts, R. ?
For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty near Briseux Wood on 8th October
1918. During the advance he was with forward battalion headquarters, and
throughout the attack, although under heavy shell and machine gun fire, he
personally kept in touch with all companies and sent back valuable information.
Owing to his good work all companies were able to keep touch throughout the
operations, and the success of the attack was mainly due to his untiring
efforts. — Gazettes, 15 February and 19 July 1919.
