Bar (as Capt. (Actg. Maj.) ). For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty near Landrecies on 3rd, 4th and 5th November 1918. Throughout this period he worked without rest, personally visiting R.A.P.'s and relay posts under heavy fire. The fine example he set inspired all who worked under him, and his efforts ensured the rapid evacuation of all the casualties of the division. — Gazettes, 2 April and 10 December 1919.
