MILITARY CROSS :
CADE, Lt. Francis Mignelle, R.F.A. ? For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to
duty. During a hostile counter-attack all communications were cut. The position
of the forward troops was doubtful, and the situation appeared critical. In
spite of a very heavy barrage, he went forward and personally ascertained the
position of a considerable portion of the front line, and returned through heavy
shell fire with an accurate and valuable report. He showed great courage and
coolness throughout the day. — Gazettes, 18 October 1917 and 7 March 1918.
